Trex is seeking an electronics engineer who can support vigorous and intellectually demanding programs of sensor development and advanced imaging systems, both passive and active, over numerous spectral wavebands. An immediate position is available for highly skilled and distinguished applicants. This position is at Trex's San Diego facility.
DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES
The position includes detailed design, simulation, and test work, including FPGA logic design and test (Xilinx and/or Altera), board-level circuit design, and test software development for advanced imaging and single pixel sensors for the visible and SWIR wavebands. The work supports the innovation required for a new generation of optical imaging systems. The successful candidate will be able to work in a team environment with other scientists and engineers, have a strong work ethic, and good communication skills. The work will involve interaction with government and commercial customers.
COMPETENCIES/SKILLS
The successful applicant will be very proficient in FPGA firmware development using VHDL, advanced signal processing algorithms, embedded software development, and board-level circuit design. An understanding of the principles of focal-plane detectors and processing, and optics at the undergraduate level or higher is a plus.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
A minimum 8 years of work experience in a university or industrial lab, with a BS degree in electrical engineering, physics, signal processing, or a related field is required. Previous experience in design for manufacturing and product development are a plus. U.S. Citizenship and ability to gain security clearance is required.
